School for Supers

The Academy for Superpowered Beings is a school for those who have gifts beyond the capacity for a 'normal' human being. Here the students are 'retrieved' from the world and brought here to control and contain their powers by other, trustworthy Supers. The Academy is run by the government, and is in the presence of hundreds of guards who have been trained to take down rouge supers, whether they mean to be harmful or can't control their powers yet.

The government urges Supers who have graduated the Academy to give their Super children to them for training, though some refuse, most agree to do so, or risk the 'accidents' that seem to befall uncooperative Supers. On the inside, the children are taught normal academics as well as courses on normal humans, how to blend in, and what to do in emergencies. They are even allowed to choose super names, and are referred to them during their super classes.

Those who graduate are able to join normal society, becoming average citizens, and using their powers only when it is necesarry, and followed by a government investigation. To graduate, a student must pass not only academics, but must be ruled as responsible enough to be allowed their freedom, and not abuse their powers.

Not every graduate follows these guidelines, and indeed some of the supers who leave cause many problems and even jeapordize the fate of the world. One such man, the most recent and strongest villain around, was the Dark One. In school, though his powers were of the darker sort, he controlled himself very well and showed restraint, and when the time came, there were few who seemed to think he would not be a productive member of society. He proved them wrong.

The Dark One had power over darkness, controlling it, bending it to his will, and even creating minions from it, and with these powers he set himself upon the world, drawing in a group of supers who fought with him to control the world. No one seemed able to defeat them, until a group of Supers confronted them, fighting for justice, and managed to defeat them. The Dark One has been sealed away deep in a secret government building, along with his colleagues.

It became known soon after that he had children. Fraternal twins who were discovered wreaking havoc on a playground at a young age, a boy and a girl. The boy inherited his father's ability to control darkness, using it to hurt others personally, while the girl inherited the ability to create minions, using them to overwhelm others. Once in the school, the twins gradually began to run a gang, and now have access to illegal substances that other students, and even teachers, desire, and intimidate others into doing work for them. They control the back alleys, having many students in their gang, and even managed to influence some teachers into doing things they want, and even have managed to bribe some guards into doing what they want.

It is in this climate that the Academy's students find themselves, and with the twins running the school, what will other students do? Some submit. Some stand their ground. In a school where everyone is scared to upset the balance, can any resistance be effective?

Personality: He seems to be a well-mannered young man and respectful, courteous and polite. Simultaneously, he can be cruel and ruthless on anything from a late payment to disobedience. Depending on what kind of intimidation he's trying, he can be fierce and furious or cold and terrifying, though this is done monstly out of earshot of the other students.
History: He was young when his father was defeated, but he remembers what he was like, and the stories and morals he would tell. After his father was defeated, he and his sister and mother lived in poverty, just barely scraping by. The two children were alone often, and they took to scaring other children around the neighborhood, eventually getting them noticed by the government. At around age seven they were taken from their mother and placed into the academy. Extra attention was given to them because of their father, but they proved they were good children to the adults. They gradually formed a gang though, and drew those who wanted power or security, and kept out of the notice of the guards through various means. Trevor became the model student, while Nightmare co-controlled the gang.

History: Mircle was young when his father was defeated, but she can recall memories of him and what he taught her and her brother. History: He was found when animal control was chasing many different animals around, seeming to appear and dissappear easily, and some were wild animals that wouldn't be in a city. He was captured, and when the pound found out he was a boy, they called the government, who took him. He was six at the time, and has been at the school for nine years. His parents had no idea he was a super, neither of them were, and they didn't know he had been leaving the house to run around as animals. He's kept a good humor and manages to duck the gang when they come his way.

Personality: Vincent is a very cool and collected teacher in public, always able to handle his students, even the rowdy or uncooperative ones. He can charm nearly any person, except the guards, and a few select students. In private, he can be quite cold and rude, and when in danger, a big coward.
History: Vincent first discovered his power one summer when he was at a pool with his friends, when he dived into the pool and sent frozen drops of water splashing around him, and a layer of ice where he entered. After being labled a freak by his 'friends', he was taken away within the hour, and put in the academy. He saw the Dark One there, though only for a little while, as the man graduated not long after he arrived. Vincent made it through school with little problem, and graduated with the Super Name, Frostbite. Frostbite first became a snowcone vendor, selling cheapest because he had to waste no money on ice, but quickly grew bored with it. Soon, the Dark One approached him, a powerful super, and left him with little choice but to follow him. Vincent wasn't too happy being a villain, but it was more fun than a normal citizen. He was, however, the weakest link in the Dark One's acquaintances, and the government was able to capture him at one point. Faced with imprisonment for his crimes, Vincent confessed information about things he knew of the Dark One, and with that information, the Dark One was defeated by government-chosen Supers. Vincent was left with the option to first attend courses for teaching science classes, then teaching the information at the Academy. Vincent accepted, and is now the Science teacher at the Academy, covering basic science, Geology, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
Other: He often avoids the twins in case they know or might find out he's responsible for their father's downfall.

Personality: Fawn is a very shy girl. She doesn't like being around others and shuns away from physical contact. Fawn has low self-esteem and doesn't apply herself much, even though she is kind of bright.
Brief History: Because of her powers, Fawn was taken from her family at a very young age. She was told that if her power wasn't contained properly that she could cause serious damage to other Super's lives. Because of this Fawn doesn't know her family all too well, but she tries to keep in contact. At school she is very reclusive. The twins are trying to recruit her, but Fawn has managed to avoid them.

Brief History: Rao's mother was a Super, but his father was not. His older sister was born without powers and Rao always felt like she hated him for having one. His family was very strict and he found little to do as a child. When he was taken, he was almost relieved, but found the school to be boring as well. He joined the twins because he was looking for something exciting in his life.

Personality: July is a somewhat strict teacher. Because of her powers she demands that students arrive on time and is an organized person. But she isn't all that stuffy or a perfectionist. She's actually pretty laidback and focused on helping the students. She is a bookworm too, loving history.
History: July grew up as a Super and did fairly well at school. She wasn't always the best student, but she tried her hardest. Her family were both Supers and so they were supportive, although they didn't really liked her powers at the time. July's powers went from slowing down time, to freezing it and now to speeding it up. She remembered hearing her mother said that if she kept on developing it she might be able to travel through time, though first reversing it must happen. This is why she went back to teach at the Academy for Superpowered Beings. She has been a teacher for a year already.

Personality: Brash and impulsive, John acts first and asks questions later, not to say he isn't intelligent. When it comes under his own range of expertise such as intimidation and street smarts, he is a quick-thinker. John prefers to go by his own name, Pyre, and all but forces others to call him by it.
History: John's mother was a super with the same powers as he had, but his father wasn't. She never told him that and, for a while, he was happy. Then, he found out that he could make fire and showed it proudly to his mother. His mother scolded him and quickly put it out, but his father saw. Later, during dinner, he angrily called John a freak while his mother defended him. His father quickly revealed himself to be drunk and to have taken his firearm out of the drawer he kept it for safe-keeping. He waved it around, getting angrier as his mother grew just as angry, accidentally producing flame herself. He panicked and shot his mother, killing her in front of him. Angry and scared, John produced an inferno, burning the house down, but surviving himself. Pyre was born.
Pyre soon found himself in government custody, being treated as less than human by the government agents before being taken to the school. There, he grew into an angry and bitter teen, blaming his father, the government, and the world for his problems. When Nightmare started his gang, Nightmare knew exactly what to say. Pyre joined without hesitation.

Personality: Orion is quite anti-social, not really understanding normal teenagers or even supers as well as he'd like, despite his great intelligence. He mostly likes to be left alone, though, and considers his peers to be Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, and the rest of the learned men from history. He dislikes excessive force, preferring strategy if he should ever enter a conflict.
History: Orion was always a gifted child. He claims that his first memory was of being born and being held upside down and spanked. He continues that he glared at the man silently, indignant. This, of course, is probably an exageration. Suffice to say, he was immensly more intelligent than his peers, teaching himself how to read at age three, and already reading at the level of a kid twice his age when he was 5. As he grew up and attended school, it was inevitable that he'd be recognized as what he was as he grew older and far surpassed his class mates. At age 10, he was already at high-school level intelligence and that was rounding down. He was not a mere genius. He was a Super.
Orion wasn't too sad to leave for the Academy, though he resents being closely watched by the government. For now, though, he is content with his goal to pefect himself. His power may not be as flamboyant as the rest, but he considers it vastly superior.

Appearance: Marissa is a mirror image of her mother, aside from the long blonde hair that falls down to her waist. She has violet eyes, tanned skin from spending all of her time outside, and stands at five feet in height. She’s a little on the skinny side, but she is very fit and can pack a heck of a punch. Worn blue Capri’s and a dark green t-shirt adorn her body. The Capri’s have holes in the knees and her shirt is a size too big, but she doesn’t mind. She prefers to be barefoot, but does own a pair of worn tennis shoes.
Personality: Marissa is trouble. She doesn’t mean to be, but yet always seems to end up in it. She has a headstrong and stubborn nature, as well as an innate sense of curiosity. However, she has a kind heart, which leaks through when somebody is hurt or in need of help. She can be a bit standoffish,, but she would like nothing more than some human friends. The only place she really feels at home is when she is alone among animals, as she doesn’t have to worry about putting up pretenses.
History: Marissa was six when her mother abandoned her, leaving her on the doorstep of her father’s house—a father she did not know, as well as father who did not even know that he had a daughter. She had a letter with her, which gave a brief explanation about the child, but Marissa herself said little about her mother, even though she missed her terribly. She was just happy to no longer be running. However, the stableness of her life was for only a few years.
One night it was pouring rain. A criminal was making a getaway in a stolen car and slammed straight an old truck—a truck that held both Marissa and her father. Her father was killed instantly, leaving the young child alone and traumatized. After a search by the authorities, Marissa found herself at the home of her aunt, whom she had never known existed.
First Grade is when her powers developed. Her aunt was used to Marissa spending a lot of time with animals and the older woman was getting on in her years and becoming absentminded, so she didn’t detect anything strange. However, the kids at school noticed quickly and began to make fun of her for the way that she was always making animal noises, as well as for her ratty clothing and the fact that she had no parents.
As she grew older, she began to strike back at those that made fun of her, and she grew depressed as well. Her grades slipped, her weight dropped, her anger grew. Finally, at fourteen, it all burst out. The teacher had stepped out of the room for only a moment and instantly Marissa had found herself bombarded by the bullies. She let loose a bird war cry and the animals that had been just outside the window instantly rushed to her rescue.
The government took her then, and dropped her off at the Academy. She has been there ever since, the scars from her childhood making it hard to adjust.
Other: Her most prized possessions is the book her father gave her, The Call of the Wild, and the pressed flower inside, as that had been what her mother had left behind after the one night stand.

Appearance: A tall wiry man with dark hair, and pale complexion, he wears a brown blazer over his dress shirt and tie. In essence your stereotypical teacher look.
Personality: He is good humored, and has a pretty clear view of the world, but often seems distant.
History: Known to his employers higher up on the chain, he is formally member of the three. A villainous group of brothers who wreaked havoc on the world in the 20th century. He played a part in getting the Academy formed by working with his brothers in serial murders across the globe. Skin, Bones, and Soul were their old names, as Arthur would take the blood of victims, Bones would keep the bones and extract his power from them, and Soul would suck the life right out of victims to feed his hunger leaving nothing but a lump of skin. With every kill they grew stronger, and at one time were the most feared villains in the world, but after drawing too much attention to themselves they disbanded for a short while, which turned into a long while, until the Dark One came. Although there is no record of it, Skin, Bones, and Soul all aided the Dark One from the shadows, learning to be precise, coordinated and effective. They were a force to be reckoned with when they had a leader. They adopted the new names Dracula, Dust, and Ghost. But their return was short lived when the Dark One was defeated. Once again on their own, Arthur was caught on a reckless kill out of anger, after a fight with his brothers. The connection between him and the Dark One was never made, but somehow, he ended up held in a cell within earshot of his former adviser. The Dark One had never met any of the group face to face, and now Dracula had his chance to speak to him. But they were careful with their talks, never letting on to any previous knowledge of the other. It came out that the Dark One had kids. This intrigued Arthur. A villain with a family. He thought about it often during his incarceration. So Arthur played nice, and recently has been deemed fit to be released, under the condition that he work with the school, offering his knowledge in illuding others, to keep powers from public knowledge. Former public menace Arthur Hunt has been unleashed on the school for supers, and has taken it upon himself to look into the children of the Dark One, and see if he can take a cue from his former master.
Other: Unlike one would assume Arthur is a daytime person, enjoys garlic, and has a habit of carving wooden stakes. He also enjoys bran muffins.

Personality:Chrysame is shy, but that doesn't stop her to be a good persuader. She doesn't like having a lot of attention. She is loyal and honest, when necessary. She is sneaky and quite the schemer. She is also creative and independent. She also adapts quickly to new environments and is practical.
History: Chrysame's mother also had the power of invisibility and went to the school for supers. Afterwards, her mother decided to work for the government. Her father also knew that her mother had the power of invisibility, but he still accepted her.
Chrysame was five when her power was activated. Once she started school, Chrysame would be so shy that she would fairly fade in and out of her invisibilty. The teachers never noticed, which was the advantage of being in a classroom full of kids.
Five years later, Chrysame's mom started teaching her how to control her power, jut enough so that Chrysame wouldn't fade from just a little bit of shyness or embarrassment. A few months later, in the middle of April, and on her birthday, her parents were caught in a bank heist. They were able to escape but instead died in a car crash. It was caused by the speeding robbers from the bank earlier in the day rushing through town. The went past a red light and ran into her parent's car. On the same day, the government came to pick her up. She doesn't really blame herself for her parent's death, but feels like she could have done something to help them.
Other: Her close friends sometimes call her Chrys or Mei, but would rather be called by her full name as to not feel like another person from another family. She wants her name to remind her of where shecame from.

Personality: Maximo is a quiet and humble kid. He really doesn’t care about anybody except for himself. This teen enjoys being alone and hates being annoyed, and he is usually emotionless to others. It’s very hard to read him even after you get to know him a little bit.
History: Maximo childhood is very complicated and somehow blurry to him. At his 4 years of age he was left by what he thinks was his mother on the steps of the house of a known kind wealthy man who didn’t have kid. The man tried searching for whoever the parents of Maximo everywhere, but he never found anyone so he made the obvious decision, staying with the kid.
At the age of 8 he discovered that he was kind of different from other kids since he noticed that his reflexes were far more sensible and accurate that the rest. After a few time of begging to his adoptive parent, he was enlisted on a martial arts school where further on at the age of 9, he accidentally discovered his teleportation ability. Thankfully he was alone. After a few years of hardcore training and a lot of dedication from the kid’s part, Maximo surpassed the rest of the kids at his age and even those 2 or 3 years above him. His powers gave him the advantage of reacting faster to literally, everything. Maximo was raised and cared for but there was still something missing, it was an emptiness within that was hard to describe and the only conclusion he came with was that he needed to find his real parents. One night, he fled his house and set off on his journey. This at the age of 15. After a year, he was caught robbing some food. Maximo made the attempt of running but was unsuccessful. After realizing his power, the government sent him to the school where he has just arrived. Before fleeing, he was awarded the brown belt in his group.

Personality: July is a somewhat strict teacher. Because of her powers she demands that students arrive on time and is an organized person. But she isn't all that stuffy or a perfectionist. She's actually pretty laidback and focused on helping the students. She is a bookworm too, loving history.
History: July grew up as a Super and did fairly well at school. She wasn't always the best student, but she tried her hardest. Her family were both Supers and so they were supportive, although they didn't really liked her powers at the time. July's powers went from slowing down time, to freezing it and now to speeding it up. She remembered hearing her mother said that if she kept on developing it she might be able to travel through time, though first reversing it must happen. This is why she went back to teach at the Academy for Superpowered Beings. She has been a teacher for a year already.

Appearance: Marissa is a mirror image of her mother, aside from the long blonde hair that falls down to her waist. She has violet eyes, tanned skin from spending all of her time outside, and stands at five feet in height. She’s a little on the skinny side, but she is very fit and can pack a heck of a punch. Worn blue Capri’s and a dark green t-shirt adorn her body. The Capri’s have holes in the knees and her shirt is a size too big, but she doesn’t mind. She prefers to be barefoot, but does own a pair of worn tennis shoes.

Personality: Marissa is trouble. She doesn’t mean to be, but yet always seems to end up in it. She has a headstrong and stubborn nature, as well as an innate sense of curiosity. However, she has a kind heart, which leaks through when somebody is hurt or in need of help. She can be a bit standoffish,, but she would like nothing more than some human friends. The only place she really feels at home is when she is alone among animals, as she doesn’t have to worry about putting up pretenses.

History: Marissa was six when her mother abandoned her, leaving her on the doorstep of her father’s house—a father she did not know, as well as father who did not even know that he had a daughter. She had a letter with her, which gave a brief explanation about the child, but Marissa herself said little about her mother, even though she missed her terribly. She was just happy to no longer be running. However, the stableness of her life was for only a few years.

One night it was pouring rain. A criminal was making a getaway in a stolen car and slammed straight an old truck—a truck that held both Marissa and her father. Her father was killed instantly, leaving the young child alone and traumatized. After a search by the authorities, Marissa found herself at the home of her aunt, whom she had never known existed.

First Grade is when her powers developed. Her aunt was used to Marissa spending a lot of time with animals and the older woman was getting on in her years and becoming absentminded, so she didn’t detect anything strange. However, the kids at school noticed quickly and began to make fun of her for the way that she was always making animal noises, as well as for her ratty clothing and the fact that she had no parents.

As she grew older, she began to strike back at those that made fun of her, and she grew depressed as well. Her grades slipped, her weight dropped, her anger grew. Finally, at fourteen, it all burst out. The teacher had stepped out of the room for only a moment and instantly Marissa had found herself bombarded by the bullies. She let loose a bird war cry and the animals that had been just outside the window instantly rushed to her rescue.

The government took her then, and dropped her off at the Academy. She has been there ever since, the scars from her childhood making it hard to adjust.

Other: Her most prized possessions is the book her father gave her, The Call of the Wild, and the pressed flower inside, as that had been what her mother had left behind after the one night stand.

Interesting fact for you, manysidestome, Marissa is Casey Jewels' mother, and Casey is Chance's mother.

Power: He absorbs strength from blood and can control it outside of the body. It gives him enhanced human abilities, as well as life, and slower aging.
Appearance: A tall wiry man with dark hair, and pale complexion, he wears a brown blazer over his dress shirt and tie. In essence your stereotypical teacher look.
Personality: He is good humored, and has a pretty clear view of the world, but often seems distant.
History: Known to his employers higher up on the chain, he is formally member of the three. A villainous group of brothers who wreaked havoc on the world in the 20th century. He played a part in getting the Academy formed by working with his brothers in serial murders across the globe. Skin, Bones, and Soul were their old names, as Arthur would take the blood of victims, Bones would keep the bones and extract his power from them, and Soul would suck the life right out of victims to feed his hunger leaving nothing but a lump of skin. With every kill they grew stronger, and at one time were the most feared villains in the world, but after drawing too much attention to themselves they disbanded for a short while, which turned into a long while, until the Dark One came. Although there is no record of it, Skin, Bones, and Soul all aided the Dark One from the shadows, learning to be precise, coordinated and effective. They were a force to be reckoned with when they had a leader. They adopted the new names Dracula, Dust, and Ghost. But their return was short lived when the Dark One was defeated. Once again on their own, Arthur was caught on a reckless kill out of anger, after a fight with his brothers. The connection between him and the Dark One was never made, but somehow, he ended up held in a cell within earshot of his former adviser. The Dark One had never met any of the group face to face, and now Dracula had his chance to speak to him. But they were careful with their talks, never letting on to any previous knowledge of the other. It came out that the Dark One had kids. This intrigued Arthur. A villain with a family. He thought about it often during his incarceration. So Arthur played nice, and recently has been deemed fit to be released, under the condition that he work with the school, offering his knowledge in illuding others, to keep powers from public knowledge. Former public menace Arthur Hunt has been unleashed on the school for supers, and has taken it upon himself to look into the children of the Dark One, and see if he can take a cue from his former master.
Other: Unlike one would assume Arthur is a daytime person, enjoys garlic, and has a habit of carving wooden stakes. He also enjoys bran muffins.

Personality: Orion is quite anti-social, not really understanding normal teenagers or even supers as well as he'd like, despite his great intelligence. He mostly likes to be left alone, though, and considers his peers to be Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, and the rest of the learned men from history. He dislikes excessive force, preferring strategy if he should ever enter a conflict.
History: Orion was always a gifted child. He claims that his first memory was of being born and being held upside down and spanked. He continues that he glared at the man silently, indignant. This, of course, is probably an exageration. Suffice to say, he was immensly more intelligent than his peers, teaching himself how to read at age three, and already reading at the level of a kid twice his age when he was 5. As he grew up and attended school, it was inevitable that he'd be recognized as what he was as he grew older and far surpassed his class mates. At age 10, he was already at high-school level intelligence and that was rounding down. He was not a mere genius. He was a Super.
Orion wasn't too sad to leave for the Academy, though he resents being closely watched by the government. For now, though, he is content with his goal to pefect himself. His power may not be as flamboyant as the rest, but he considers it vastly superior.

Also, just a note or two, unless they've just arrived, the students will know each other. Feel free to have existing relationships with other characters, whether they be friends or enemies. And the gang, while trying to recruit some, aren't interested in every student who walks through the halls. They have to have someone to terrorize after all.

Personality:Chrysame is shy, but that doesn't stop her to be a good persuader. She doesn't like having a lot of attention. She is loyal and honest, when necessary. She is sneaky and quite the schemer. She is also creative and independent. She also adapts quickly to new environments and is practical.
History: Chrysame's mother also had the power of invisibility and went to the school for supers. Afterwards, her mother decided to work for the government. Her father also knew that her mother had the power of invisibility, but he still accepted her.

Chrysame was five when her power was activated. Once she started school, Chrysame would be so shy that she would fairly fade in and out of her invisibilty. The teachers never noticed, which was the advantage of being in a classroom full of kids.

Five years later, Chrysame's mom started teaching her how to control her power, jut enough so that Chrysame wouldn't fade from just a little bit of shyness or embarrassment. A few months later, in the middle of April, and on her birthday, her parents were caught in a bank heist. They were able to escape but instead died in a car crash. It was caused by the speeding robbers from the bank earlier in the day rushing through town. The went past a red light and ran into her parent's car. On the same day, the government came to pick her up. She doesn't really blame herself for her parent's death, but feels like she could have done something to help them.

Other: Her close friends sometimes call her Chrys or Mei, but would rather be called by her full name as to not feel like another person from another family. She wants her name to remind her of where shecame from.

Personality: Maximo is a quiet and humble kid. He really doesn’t care about anybody except for himself. This teen enjoys being alone and hates being annoyed, and he is usually emotionless to others. It’s very hard to read him even after you get to know him a little bit.

History: Maximo childhood is very complicated and somehow blurry to him. At his 4 years of age he was left by what he thinks was his mother on the steps of the house of a known kind wealthy man who didn’t have kid. The man tried searching for whoever the parents of Maximo everywhere, but he never found anyone so he made the obvious decision, staying with the kid.
At the age of 8 he discovered that he was kind of different from other kids since he noticed that his reflexes were far more sensible and accurate that the rest. After a few time of begging to his adoptive parent, he was enlisted on a martial arts school where further on at the age of 9, he accidentally discovered his teleportation ability. Thankfully he was alone. After a few years of hardcore training and a lot of dedication from the kid’s part, Maximo surpassed the rest of the kids at his age and even those 2 or 3 years above him. His powers gave him the advantage of reacting faster to literally, everything. Maximo was raised and cared for but there was still something missing, it was an emptiness within that was hard to describe and the only conclusion he came with was that he needed to find his real parents. One night, he fled his house and set off on his journey. This at the age of 15. After a year, he was caught robbing some food. Maximo made the attempt of running but was unsuccessful. After realizing his power, the government sent him to the school where he has just arrived. Before fleeing, he was awarded the brown belt in his group.

Other: He has recently joined the school. And he can only to teleport to places within his sight range.
