You're So Weird (T-M)

"You're so weird. Do you know that? It's almost as if you have something to hide."

And they do. Eight teenagers are going to be spending the summer together in a boathouse made cabin down in sunny Florida. They are your typical teens which could mean almost anything. But they have all have one secret that makes them a little...weird.

They all have mix feelings about staying in the boathouse along with different reasons as to why. And none want their secret to get out which could cause tension among the group even before they meet. What are their secrets anyways?

One of them is dying from a heart disease, but is trying to live a normal life. Another one was abused by their older brother whom no one believes; One was molested as a child and is afraid of physical contact. The fourth one is a klepto with a police record. Number five is a cutter who dreams of their death though they don't know why. The sixth one is going blind and has lost almost all hope. The seventh one has decided to drown their problems in alcohol. The last one is under a lot of pressure to be 'perfect' and has an eating disorder.

Can these eight teens survive one summer together? Will they be able to trust the others to open up to them? What exactly will happen when they try and hide their secrets? Regardless of the answers, it is clear none of them will forget it.

Rules
1. No god-modding. It's just not right.
2. Cursing is fine, but don't swear every post. Use it when necessary.
3. Since it is T-M, violence and romance can be somewhat graphic, but don't go overboard. The rating is mainly so you can make your secret as detailed as you want without worry.
4. Try to keep the amount of guys and girls even. There are ten characters, so five/five would be good, but it's OK if it is four/six either way.
5. Put "I have a secret and you can't know!" in your first post to show you read the rules.
6. I suggest you look up information if your character's secret isn't something you're familiar with.
7. Be literate. I can understand off days, but please try and not be lazy with your posts.

History: Agatha was born with CHD getting it from her father who died of it when she was seven. Agatha was upset when he died, but she was even more upset when she found out that she had the same disease that killed her father. Because it wasn't treated earlier the doctor said that her chances of living past 30 was rare. Still Agatha tries to live a normal life and is doing her best to make sure that nothing happens. She was doing fine and had almost achieved living as normal a life as she could until she suffered a heart attack. She survived, but it made her troubled and so she decided to go to the boathouse to get away from her life and was allowed to spend the summer there.

History: Kai was born in Japan, but moved to America at a young age. His parents were only somewhat Japanese and so he doesn't appear Japanese to most people. From an early age Kai would get an impulse to take things that didn't belong to him. He would feel insanely guilty later and return them, getting in trouble most of the time. As he grew up Kai began to steal from stores and other places as well. He got caught and was charged with shoplifting at the age of twelve. This has happened about five to seven times since then. He is going to the boathouse to try and find a new place where no one knows him and his history at least for a little while.

History: Callan’s father died of pancreatic cancer when she was 9 years old. A friend of the family stepped in to help her mother through it and they ended up marrying a little less than a year later. Callan had always been wary of him because of something her older brother had told her about him, “I don’t like the way he looks at you. It’s like he’s not your stepdad and you’re not a kid.” One day when she was 10, she was home alone with him and he came at her, touched her, did with her as he pleased and threatened to hurt her mother if she screamed. Ever since, Callan has put a wall up between her and any person who tries to get close to her. She cannot stand to be touched. She came to the boathouse because she wanted to be around people again, so that connecting wouldn’t be so difficult. She’s lonelier than she is afraid. She wants to start over with people who won’t mock her for stuttering or not talking and she hopes she can do that at the boathouse. She convinced her mother to let her stay by saying that she wanted to meet new people.

She wanted to travel the world and paint it, she wanted a picture of every major city for her collection. And then she started seeing spots. She didn’t think it was a big deal. She went to the eye-doctor. She had Macular Degeneration. They told her that she would soon lose her central vision completely. She wouldn’t be able to see again… or paint. It broke her. Her future was ruined. She wasn’t exceptionally smart, so she couldn’t get a scholarship to school. All she had was her art. And it would soon leave her. She went to the boathouse to try and cope with the news and paint and draw well one last time.

His brother was kind to him when he was younger and John idolized him, but his brother fell into a bad crowd and he began to drink and treat John badly, but John blamed himself. He was beaten when his brother was drunk and belittled and neglected when his brother was sober. Sure enough, John lost confidence in himself and became shy at school. It wasn't hard to convince his brother to let him go on the trip to the boathouse in Florida since that meant he doesn't have to take care of John. Now, John just hopes to make friends.

History: Matt's parents were very unsupportive of him, caught up in their own issues and fights with each other, and never seeming to have time for him, except for when they felt like taking out their problems on him. One night, he decided to try to drown them out by using their other method of coping, alcohol. He thought it helped, even the next day when he felt like crap. And while his parents continued to blow their meager funds on this, he realized he could take it without them even realizing, or probably even caring. And this easy access made him quite popular when he could provide for social events, weekend parties, and such. His parents continued to be clueless and angry, and he continued drowning them out, and when they started to get suspicious, he started to purchase his own liquor. Then, he met his recent girlfriend, who wanted him to stop drinking, and for her, he tried. For that period of time, she was his whole world. But as their relationship went on, it was then that he realized he was more like his parents than he wanted to be, constantly fighting and disagreeing with her, and yet doing all he could to keep her with him, that borderlined on manipulation. And he cracked one night, going back to drinking, and after one last, horrible fight with her, she left him. With this, he went back to his old ways. He wanted to go to the boathouse to get away from home and all his other problems, to try and forget what had happened, and have a little anonyminity. (sp?)

History: Deana has always been under pressure, for sports, for academics, for everything. Her friends are perfect and beautiful, her parents are successful and expect the same from her. So with all this pressure, with all this control that didn't belong to her, Deana decided she wasn't good enough the way she was, and began to starve herself, to make herself the way they wanted her to be, and at the same time, to take control over something in her life. She comes to the boathouse to see if she can reileve herself of this expectation-filled life and let loose for a while, if it's at all possible.

Appearance: She has very long light brown hair that runs about halfway down her back. She has sea green eyes, and light skin. She is five foot four, and has a skinny figure, save for the beginning of a stomach. She wears whatever, at any time, but is now leaning towards dresses and baggier clothes.
Secret: She's pregnant.
History: Fiona has always grown up in the shadow of her brother. For her entire childhood she tried to impress her parents, but her brother always managed to out shine her, no matter how hard she tried. This lead to a fair bit of resentment of her brother, and a whole lot of disobedience towards her parents. Despite her determination to get attention, she refused to get into too much trouble. She wouldn't go drinking or stealing, so she had somebody else do it for her. She started going out with a well known "bad boy" from her school in grade ten. Her parents didn't seem to mind all that much, but it was her brother who came to her and talked to her about her behavior. This lead to a large argument in the car while she drove them both home. Though it wasn't her fault, they got themselves into a terrible car crash, and her brother hit his head hard, leaving him with brain damage. Her brother was left with the mental capacity of an eight year old. Or so the doctors said. Her parents believed that her brother could still retain some of the skills that he used to possess, thus they refused to move him into special education. While her brother struggled in school, Fiona was stuck in a relationship with Keith (the guy I mentioned earlier.) who had begun to beat her, because she refused to do anything with him. Both faced with the pressure of their own problems, Fiona and her brother started to talk to each other more, and Fiona decided to start helping her brother with school. In return, her brother would listen to her talk about her problems with Keith. They formed a close bond, and started looking out for each other. She helped him pass in school, and he helped her dump Keith, and hung around her, so Keith wouldn't try anything. A little before the end of school however, Keith caught Fiona alone walking home from a friend's house at night, and raped her. The experience left her traumatized, but her parents claimed it was her own fault for going out with him in the first place. Keith got himself into serious trouble, but that wasn't the end of their story. At the start of summer break, Fiona found out she was pregnant. Instead of staying where she was, and having her parents be further disappointed in her, she decided to leave her home for the summer, and figure out a plan for the child. The night she left was stormy, and it had been one of the few times she had driven a car since the accident. Before she could leave, her brother stood in front of the car, with a packed bag, and told her that he was going with her to the cabin she had rented for the summer. Reluctantly at first, she let him come with her.

Appearance: Harry has sky blue eyes, a short black crew cut, and stands about six foot three. He is sufficiently ripped, body builder style. He'll wear anything.
Secret: He is on steroids.
History: Harry Janes is Fiona's older brother, who we know oh so much about. He was smart, he was athletic, and had plenty of friends. He grew up like this, his parents so proud of him, and his sister hating him, despite his constant acts of kindness towards her. He had always wanted desperately for his sister to like him, but for reasons he couldn't quite grasp, she hated him. So, when bad boy Keith started hanging out with his sister, he knew he needed to do something. So he confronted her on a drive home one night, when they were alone in the car. They both started yelling, and then they crashed. Harry was left with the mind of an eight year old. All hopes his family ever had of him becoming a doctor went down the drain. But they still pressured him, and pushed him to succeed in school, not letting his disability get the better of him. But Harry couldn't take the pressure, and even though he tried his best, he was still failing most of his courses. He seeked out the help of his sister, who helped him with school, and started to become his best friend. He began to protect her from Keith, and she helped him get by in school. But after Keith raped her, he wanted revenge, that he just couldn't have, because the cops got to him first. So he decided to get stronger, so nobody could ever hurt Fiona again. He had remained athletic, despite the accident, so he asked one of his gym buddies what he could do to get stronger, they offered him steroids, and he took them, but he was told not to tell anybody about them. This started him on his journey to get stronger for his sister, and when Fiona decided to leave, he was determined to go with her, and protect her, hiding his performance enhancing drugs in his bag.

History: Growing up, Ruth lived a pretty average life. However, a car accident when she was young changed everything. Following this, (through another series of events) Ruth eventually ended up being diagnosed with schizophrenia. While it was unusual for one her age to be diagnosed with this, it still happened. Since then Ruth has been trying to get by. Thankfully the pills she is using at the moment are working, though that may not be the same in the future. Ruth has gone to the boathouse so she can clear her mind, and hang out with some kids that (for once) won’t treat her like she’s crazy because of her disease. She intends to keep her secret will hidden at all costs.

Secret: Son of an affair between a Senator and his secretary
History: Isaac was born as the child from a love affair between an influential Senator and his secretary. The Senator, at that time (and still is) married, and made sure that it never got out the child was actually his. Shortly after he was born, the Senator pulled some strings and the Senator and his wife adopted Isaac. The secretary was fired and paid off so she wouldn’t talk. Since then, though, Isaac has lived a relatively normal life. However, his father told him the truth about his heritage a few months ago. Isaac was crushed, as the perfect image he had of his father crumbled. Once Isaac heard about the boathouse, he jumped at the chance to go there. Now that he’s there, Isaac is doing his best to clear his head, and wonder what he should do from there forward. Part of him wants to see his true mother, yet another part wants to keep away from the woman, considering she had willingly given him up. While there at the boathouse, Isaac hopes to reach a decision.

"Are you sure about this," a tired looking woman asked a younger girl. She looked up from the seat and nodded at her.

"I'll be fine mom. You worry too much." She slid out of the car and got her things. Some of her stuff were already here and she was glad about that.

"Just please be careful," the woman said, smoothing her daughter's hair. "Now go. Have fun."

The girl nodded and stood there until her mother was gone. Then she turned to the boathouse.

"Let's hope I do."

Kai watched as Agatha pulled up with her mother. He had already been here since this morning. He also had taken at least five things. One of them was a red hankercheif that was owned by that girl. He wondered why it was such a strange color.

Kai looked at the boathouse. Things were suppose to be different now, but the urges were as strong as ever.

John smiled a little as he stepped out of the bus before heading for the beach. He could already see the boathouse in the distance. He smiled a little. Maybe he'd have some fun. His brother wasn't here to belittle him. Perhaps he could even get a girl to like him.

Sam walked towards the boathouse, wearing a long-sleeved shirt despite the heat to hide his scars. His parents told him that this would be good for him. He hoped they were right, but he doubted it. The other teenagers would just pick on him.

Callan stepped out of her mother's black BMW. She took a deep breath and thought, Here goes nothing. Her mom popped the trunk and she shut the door and got her things. As Callan started to walk toward the boathouse, her mother came out of the car and was about to hug her. Callan put out her hands defensively, stopping her mom, "Whoa. That's not cool, Mom. Someone'll see me. I love you. I'll see you at home." Her mother nodded, "Love you, too. Alright, honey. I'll... I'll see you soon." Callan smiled and nodded, then proceeded to roll her suitcase toward the boathouse.

Axelia slid out from her father's blue compact. She took her bag out with her and looked back at her dad. She smiled, "Hey. See you later, 'kay?" "Alright," he replied, with a smile. A smile she had inherited from him. She waved goodbye as the car pulled away and she walked toward the boathouse, squinting slightly at the light.

Kai moved out in front of the boathouse. He knew that he was going to have to keep track of what he took and who he took from. That way he could give it all back. Taking a chance he walked up to a girl (Axelia).

"Hey. Are you one of the people staying here?"

Agatha put her suitcase and bag down on her bed. She was sharing a room with one other person. There were four rooms in total. That meant that everyone would be rooming with someone.

Agatha bit her lip as she stared at the other bed. If she starting coughing or having seizures in the middle of the night, it would be hard to keep whoever else would be in here from noticing.

Axelia looked up from the ground and saw who was speaking to her. She proceeded to put on her happy face and talk to him. "Hey," she said, smiling at him, "I'm Axelia. You can call me Alix, though. Nice to meet you." She extended her hand for him to shake.

Callan walked into the boathouse, looking around. This would be cool. She had never done anything like this before. She saw that there were four rooms. Two people to a room. Okay, she thought, hoping that she would room with someone nice.
