Personality: Tara is a quiet sort at first, but becomes generally talkative and almost bubbly the more she gets to know and trust someone. She can get boggled down in the little details, and doesn't react well to stressful situations, usually choosing to hide from if she can.
History: Tara was born and raised in the Englewood District of Chicago, one of the more impoverished areas of the city, Tara lived there until she was sixteen. Having always been an A + student, Tara was eventually given a scholarship by some executive who was involved in a scandal a few months before and wanted some decent PR, she didn't question it, and went to University of Illinois before transferring to Stanford for her Doctorate. By the time she was twenty-six, Tara was a fully certificated medical surgeon, specializing in heart and lungs surgical procedures, especially. She spent the next year working as hard as she could to pay off her medical bills, before taking the next year off to contemplate what she wanted to do now with her life, and to see the world as well.

When she turned twenty-eight, Tara's father died of a stroke, and she moved back to Chicago to take care of her Mother. (Her Elder Brother and Elder Sister both already families of their own to take care of, and her younger brother was currently serving time in prison for a series of car thefts.) But instead of moving down to Englewood, Tara bought a small three bedroom home in Edgewater for her Mother and herself, and got a job at a hospital nearby to pay the bills. The next year was relatively peaceful. Her Mother found a church in the area she enjoyed, which kept Mrs. Eman busy, and Tara managed to make a few friends in the area as well. She dated a few people as well, though her hectic work schedule and the fact that she always put her Mother, work, and friends first usually stopped them from becoming anything more. Still, she was beginning to enjoy life.

Until the Zombies arrived. The first one Tara saw was at the hospital, after she had heard on the news it was safer to go home. She saw the crazed look in it's eyes, the lack of ... anything sane, just a few seconds before the zombie was shot in the head. Tara quickly went home, and didn't go outside the next day, or the day after. Eventually she did go out shopping, and was disturbed to hear that the entire southern half of the city had been quarantined. Tara bought as much canned food as she could fit into three carts, along with a hunting rifle, and went back home. She wasn't surprised when the power went out, but was thankful to have a wood powered stove waiting in the living room. With the windows and front door barricaded, Tara kept her and her mother as safe as possible, and she tried to keep the both of them safe.

Eventually, someone knocked on their door, not hammered or bumped or moaned like the zombies, but actually knocked this time. Apparently, the community had been cleared out, by none other then the members of her Mother's church, alongside some actually trained citizens as well, of course. Apparently Tara was a a real find to the community as they moved her and her Mother closer to a more secured area of the city, though it was still a nice two bedroom home, Tara found. Her Mother, June, found a few of her friends from the old church. She was saddened to not know what had happened to the old place, but June quickly adapted to the new community, and Tara was relieved to see her so happy for the first time in months.

Tara and her Mother have been a part of the community ever since, though Tara remains more of an asset to the community, and less of an involved citizen at this point in time.
Additional Information: She doesn't particularly care about the theocratic possibly communistic nature of the community, considering her Mother approves well enough. She only goes to church when forced, but she doesn't complain, and she isn't trying to change the rules of the community. For Tara what is just is.

Personality: Peter is a bit shy and is quiet, mostly preferring to let other people do the talking. He does, however, open up when he gets to know someone and trusts them, beginning to talk a lot. He has a deep hatred for zombies, however, and has issues with authority.
History: Peter grew up in Chicago with his parents. His father was a police officer and his mother was simply a stay-at-home-mom. Peter was close to them both, particularly his father who he looked up to and tried to imitate from a young age. When the infected spread and zombies were marching across town, his father joined the rest of the police force trying to stem the tide. As though he knew he wouldn't survive, he took his son aside and told him he was proud of him and loved him. Peter and his mother received word of his death later on. Luckily for them, they attended Pastor Samuel's community settled near them and, after being barricaded in their house for months, joined the community, his mom cooking and helping to stretch out the food supplies and Peter doing odd jobs, especially if it meant shooting zombies.
Additional Information: Carries with him a revolver at all times. Is a bit bitter at his father's death and gets angry when Pastor Samuel reassures the community that the dead are in Heaven and at peace.

Personality: Reginald (Commonly called “Pastor Samuel”) is a kind and gentle old man, with a fierce spirit. He is not the type to let anything set him back or deter him, which greatly came in hand when the Zombie Apocalypse started. Pastor Samuel can be a nice and guiding Grandfather like figure when need be, and most of the time he acts like that, but he can also be firm and strong leader when necessary. He is especially kind and compassionate to the children within the Community, as well as those who've suffered hard due to the Apocalypse, and Samuel takes great pride and joy holding Bible classes with the young ones.

At times, when Reginald allows himself to be vulnerable, he will feel his eighty-two years and the added stress the Zombies brought, as well as the stress of running a small state. When this passes, however, Pastor Samuel resumes his strong persona and does his best not to fall in the face of all these stresses and problems.
History: For most of his life, Reginald led the life of a simple man. He followed in the footsteps of his parents into the business of ministry, and when he was thirty Reginald became the pastor of a small church in Florida. When he was thirty-five, Reginald married a lovely woman named Deanna. Ten years later, Deanna tragically died in a car accident, which also took the life of his youngest son. Reginald grieved for a time, but with the help of God he moved on, and even remarried another ten years after his wife's death. All through this time, his faith in God was never struck down.

Thirty odd years later, the Zombie Apocalypse struck the world. As Society collapsed around him, and the United States government retreated into safer areas, Pastor Samuel led his family and his congregation through the carnage and suffering. Through the sheer determination of his willpower, Samuel ended up leading his friends and family all the way to Chicago, where they soon found a relatively safe area within the city and set up a new home.

Two years has passed since then, and the Chicago Community has only grown larger, as more refugees from all over the country came to live in the (relatively) safe Community. Things may be falling apart at the seems, though as supplies are starting to run low, and there is some friction from some of the people in the Community against Samuel and how he rules. Reginald has done his best to get through and negotiate through the latter, and has been trying to figure out ways to solve the former problem. Though he's starting to face the fact that it may be time to move, once again.
Additional Information: Reginald Samuel carries a pistol with him at all times, as well as a cane to get around more easier. Most of Reginald's family is still alive, including his second wife, much to his thanks. They now live with him in the Community.

Personality: Mariah is a kind young girl. She tends to act motherly to the younger children, and comforts those who need and want it. Mariah sometimes acts older than her age, and seems to show signs of great sadness and depression at times. But she pulls herself together, and doesn't allow anything to pull her down.
History: Mariah is the granddaughter of Pastor Samuel. She lived a relatively happy life with her family and friends in Florida until the Zombie Apocalypse broke out. Her life started to fall apart around her, as her many friends either fled with their own families or they just plain disappeared, which has caused Mariah no end of vexation, wondering where they have all gone and what happened to them. When the time came Mariah fled their town with her family and her Grandfather's Church Congregation, and traveled with them all the way to Chicago. Mariah is lucky in the fact that her entire family is still alive and with her, though she still wishes things had been better. Mariah is a little scared by the fact that they may have to leave Chicago soon, and she desperately hopes that it won't come to that.

Mariah herself also teaches the few children present within the Community. She always wanted to be a Teacher, and she's been using the textbooks and other school supplies the Scavenging Teams have brought in to try and give the children of the Community a decent education.
Additional Information: Mariah doesn't carry any weapons on her, mostly so she doesn't scare the children she teaches. However, there is a gun in her bedroom for emergencies, as well as a crowbar for melee assaults.

Mariah herself is also a Christian.

Personality: Shun is a strict and harsh man at times, but he has the best of intentions. Everything he does has a reason, even if it seems hard at times. Underneath his rough exterior, Shun is a gentle spirit, and he does show a soft spot toward children and he is kind and civil to those he respects or know. Especially Pastor Samuel and his Second-In-Command. In times of war, however (since he views the struggle against the Undead as a war), Shun puts aside his feelings and gentler nature to protect his fellow man and to serve God by wiping out these abominations known as “zombies”.
History: Shun followed in the footsteps of his Immigrant Father, and became a Kendo Instructor when he mastered the style. He continued to teach at his Father's Kendo School in California, and trained many promising young students over the years. When the Zombie Apocalypse occurred, and the American Government retreated to California and other neighboring states, Shun trained even more people than he had ever before due to the limited availability of guns, thus knowing martial arts techniques was seen a good alternative. However, a year after this, he began to get frustrated at the lack of action the United States was taking in attempting to retake the country. Thus, Shun left his school in the capable hands of his best apprentice (for he never had married yet and had no heir to pass his dojo on to) and left the “Safe Zones” of America.

Shun started traveling all over the country, doing his best to help the survivors out there as he traveled from state to state. Eventually he came upon the Community within Chicago, and after some debating within himself he decided to become a permanent resident there, and sometime after this he became a Christian after hearing a sermon that Pastor Samuel preached. Shun soon decided to become the Community's Sheriff after the original one was lost during a scavenging expedition into the city.

A year later, and Ayumi is still the Sheriff of the Chicago Community, and he takes great pride in his new job. He does not mind the theocratic nature of Pastor Samuel's Community, and thinks it best under the circumstances. He believes that they should stay in Chicago, and that they should start sending the Scavenging Teams into more dangerous areas to survive.
Additional Information: Shun keeps a sword strapped with him at all times, usually strapping it to his back. Along with that, Shun carries around a sharp butcher's knife, a pistol, and a shotgun.

Shun runs a self-defense class in the Community three days a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) and teaches those who wish to properly defend themselves against zombies and any other threats. Shun also is a part time member with the Scouting and Scavenging Parties, joining their expeditions four times a month. And the uniform Shun wears is a repaired and modified version of the uniform his Grandfather wore when he was a Kempai agent in Japan.

Personality: Johanna is a quiet and a loner type of woman. She keeps to herself most often, and does not like to speak a lot with others. When engaged in conversation, Johanna can be quite snarky and (perhaps intentionally) pushes away people who try to get close to her. Johanna also detests those who try to flirt with her, and has an ire to the feeling known as “love” due to past experiences.
History: Johanna lived an average life, overall, being raised by a single mother in Illinois. When she was nineteen, Johanna got engaged to the love of her life. Then, a month before the wedding day, she caught her fiance in bed with another woman. Johanna blacked out at that point. The next thing she remembers is washing the blood of her fiance and the hooker off of her hands.

It didn't take long for the police in her town to put things together. Within two weeks, she was sentenced to twenty years in prison for the murder of her fiance and the prostitute he slept with. Johanna had served seven years of her sentence when all hell broke loose as the Undead started to roam the streets. Eventually the Warden and his Prison Guards abandoned her and the other prisoners, causing every woman to go for herself. After a few Roaming Dead were let into the prison, Johanna managed to escape and high-tailed it out of there, making a long trek toward Chicago, where she hoped she would be safe. Johanna found the Big City to be no better than anyplace else, but nonetheless she decided to make a home there. She claimed an empty apartment as her own and started to scavenge other buildings to ensure her survival. Johanna ended up running into a Scouting Party from the Chicago Community six months later, and shortly thereafter she packed her things and moved in with the Community.

Johanna has been with the Community ever since, and has been a regular member with the Scavenging Teams. She personally doesn't care about Pastor Samuel and his Faith, and she tolerates going to Church once a month, though Johanna only pretends to pay attention. She's noticed that her Team has been bringing in less supplies than the norm for the past two months, since they've been running out of (safe) places to ransack. Johanna herself thinks they should stay in Chicago, and start to have the Scavenging Parties head into the higher Zombie-infested areas if they are to survive.
Additional Information: Johanna keeps a hunting rifle in her bedroom to use “just in case” and makes sure to always carry around a loaded pistol. She also has a battered baseball bat that she'll use when all else fails.

Johanna also does not like to talk about her past, and she has pretended that she's lived her whole life in Chicago, so far. She doesn't think it'd end well if everyone knew she was a criminal and a murderer.

just a quick note: halfway through your description of Mariah's history you start calling her Johanna.

Personality: Mariana is a shy girl, but very hardworking. She is a pasifict, but will use violence if it's absolutely necessary. Her first choice in a fight is usually to negotriate or run though. Mariana is very giving and a warm person, always willing to help the needs of others, placing those in need before anyone else. Although she hates violence, Mariana is very good around gore.
History: Mariana was born to a Hispanic mother and a White father in a town not too far from Chicago. She grew up with a little more Hispanic background since her father was usually work overseas. Mariana had always loved to play doctor and wanted to be a nurse in middle school. At this time her mother started working in Chicago and Mariana became a lack-key kid, usually spending her days alone in her house. Mariana hated to be alone and so she started to volunteer at a local clinic. Here the young girl really feel in love with the medical field and wanted to become a doctor working in a small clinic.
But when Mariana was in eleventh grade this somewhat changed. She still wanted to be a doctor, but she was also convinced to join the army by a friend of her's. She enlisted when she was eighteen and went into the force. Mariana didn't see much combat in her first years, but eventually she was set to the battlefield as a nurse. Mariana was trained with a gun, so that she could protect herself, but as a medical nurse she didn't have actual combat training. When Mariana was twenty-seven she changed her mind and started to fight.
When the Zombies attacked, Mariana was on relieve in her hometown and was planning on going back as a doctor. Mariana survived well with her combat experience and is now one of the doctors of the Chicago community. Mariana doesn't really know what to think of the Pastor, but she attends all his sermons as a devote Christian.
Additional Information: Is bilingual, but will slip into Spanish randomly, especially when nervous or excited

Personality: Wesley is a reserved person, but he voices his opinions when he thinks he has too. He doesn't really care too much about what people think and can seem apathetic at times. Wesley is an optimist despite what others may assume about him because of the way he acts. He is a dreamer as well and fantastizes a lot.
History: Wesley grew up in a rich family, but he never really cared for money. He would act out against his parents when he was a kid, but eventually he grew into a calmer, less caring person which upset his parents, but they stopped harassing him since Wesley still did what he was told. Wesley didn't have a lot of friends since most wanted to be friends for his money or they thought he was too strange. Wesley went to an all boy's school for high school where he found out he was gay. When his parents found out they threaten to disinheiret him, which lead to Wesley's drastic change in appearance. But his parents came to deal with it, althouh Wesley kept his look finding it amusing how people reacted to it.
Wesley was all ready to go to Yale when everything went down. He was afraid and mostly hid in order to survive, taking up with random groups of people. He eventually found one headed to the safe zone in Chicago and headed there. Wesley works as a scout.

Actually, Alec made a doctor, Mariah. That Tara character of his. But your gal can be her nurse, or perhaps a fellow doctor working alongside Tara. I'm sure the Community would love to have two doctors with them.

Scott Pelosi sighed as he stood in line in the plaza that was at the center of Pastor Samuel's community. It was here where most of the survivors socialized and distributed their goods. It wasn't a market, not really. Few things were sold. Supplies were shared among the community and hoarding was considered a serious offense, though some people were free to keep and sell/trade luxury items that weren't essential for survival. That made sense, the fisherman supposed. After all, they weren't a communist society. Just a religious one trying survive in the world.

At the moment, he was looking for Pastor Samuel, Shun Ayumi, or whoever gave the order that he wouldn't be allowed to fish this day because of supposed "increased zombie activity around Lake Michigan". Honestly, that was why he and the other fishermen had a guard. The community needed food and fish was the only replenishing resource they had.

"Damn. What do they expect me to do? Sit home all day? Mumble prayers?" he asked himself.

"What do you mean I can't go with the scavenger teams? I'm the best shot in this whole stupid community!" he exclaimed. The guard at the edge of the community looked unimpressed, scanning the group of scavengers at the gate once before letting them through.

"One, you're not as good as you think you are kid. Two, this stupid community is the only thing keeping you safe. And three, it's dangerous out there. A scavenger group does not need a little brat chasing zombies."

"That was a special case!" Peter argued, clenching his fists. That zombie had a badge in its hand. It might have been the one that killed his father. He had to chase and kill it. The badge might not have been his father's after all, but he knew he'd have never forgiven himself if he didn't go after it.

"Right... Go on. We don't need little kids treating this like a video game," the man told him, shoving the teen. Peter growled, but did nothing. He didn't need to get in a fight with the "police" and getting locked up in the old shoe store with Pastor Samuel lecturing him about his anger. Hm, his father was a real police officer and he was a Catholic. He wouldn't approve of being part of a theocratic Protestant community. Maybe he was being unfair, but it wasn't fair for him to be treated like a child.

((Just so everyone knows, I gave AI permission to start the RP, since Alec said he wouldn't be making his two additional characters.))

Shun Ayumi

The Sheriff of the Chicago Community observed the market from the derelict car he was currently leaning against, looking for any signs of trouble. Of course, he doubted anything would actually happen. Occasional arguments broke out, sure, but the sight of his sword and a quick glare from his eyes would end any such thing. Usually this was a job he'd let his Dupty do, or perhaps assign a guard to do, but Shun had nothing else to do today, really, so far, so he figured it would not hurt to keep watch over the plaza himself. At least until his self defence class started in another hour.

Johanna Vogel

Johanna looked over at the spectacle some kid was making, arguing with the guard about being allowed to go with the Scavenging Team (What was his name again? Dieter something, maybe?). She sighed and shook her head at the brat. Well, that was what you got for going off on your own and being a ******* idiot. It was a miracle Peter (Ah, that was it) hadn't gotten himself killed, pulling that insane stunt.

Russell sighed as he sat on the porch. He knew he was going to have to patrol the community, make sure that everything was ok, but he was waiting for Nic to finish up. She or "he" always took a while to get dressed. Russell thought that maybe he should of woken the girl up earlier.

"I'm ready," Nic called out, coming onto the porch. She smiled at Russell. "I didn't keep you waiting long right?"

Russell shook his head and stood. "Let's go. You said you wanted to help Mariah with her classes and you don't want to be late."

"I know."

Marianna was walking along the lake. She stopped a boy who she vaguely recognized. Mariana was an excellent doctor. She was a good soldier. She was horrible with names.

"Hey chico are you sure you should be other here?"

Wesley headed over to the guard, seeing that he was agruing with Peter. He sighed, but smiled to himself.

"Is there a problem," he asked the both of them, not wanting to treat Peter like a child, but not wanting to do anything to make the guard upset.

Wulfgang looked around at the scavenging group. Little Peter was making a scene, a pretty loud one at that, unusual. Peter was usually one of the quieter members of the community, one of the major reasons why Wulfgang didn't mind him joining the scavenger raids, he wasn't the best shot in the compound, but he wasn't bad. unfortunately no one could get him to part with his precious revolver. the thing barked, loud, when he fired it, and when you're being hunted by things that follow sound shooting a gun had better be followed by a speedy retreat.
for that matter, a shouting match was usually not a good thing to be too close to.
As the scavengers went through the gate, Wulfgang followed, he laid a hand on Petter's shoulder then put one finger to his lips.
"next time peter, you're too worked up right now," he said in a calm voice. "you keep shouting like that you're going to bring a whole swarm down on the settlement."

with that he slipped out the gate, raising his crossbow to a ready position. he only got one shot with it, but that was usually all it took against a single zombie, and it wouldn't draw too much attention. if there was more than one zombie to kill, there were plenty of bullets in his pistol to deal with them all.

Kelly Martinez

Leading the scavenging team this time around, Kelly finished arming and armoring herself as she approached the gate, observing what appeared to be a possible confrontation with none other than Peter Higgins, the loose cannon that almost got himself and the scaving crew he was sent out with, killed.

Of course, if she hadn't been busy at the time, she would have denied him from the get-go; as it were, the overseeing personal believed he showed decent enough talent for a trial run, to get his feet wet, so to speak.

Needless to say, she had everyone responsible for his 'okay' busted down to latrine duty...indefinitely...

"Is there a problem?" she asked, looking more at the boy as she approached, "I would have thought that your last incident would have given you a bit more insight...would you like to explain what your doing harassing this guard? Especially after I specifically told you I didn't want to see you anywhere near these gates?" she asked the boy, hardening her gaze.

Guard duty, there just wasn't anything like it. It kept her out of the scavenging team, and prolonged her mandatory Church time. She didn't have any real reason to not go, but why should she go for something she didn't believe in?

She had a few chats with the Rev about it; he didn't seem to really get it, but he was a nice enough guy...continuing her rounds she spotted an incident, one with the Commander involved, "Oh, hell..."

(Ken can you please capitalized the first letter of your sentences please?)

Wesley smiled down at Peter, though he did not pat him on the head like Wulfgang. He felt that was too condesending.

"Anyways scouting and svangening and all that isn't a lot of fun. It's hard work and boring."

Peter glared at Kelly, his previous anger with the guard forgotten. He may have been a jerk, but he wasn't the one that gave the order to keep him inside the gates. Kelly was the one that chewed him out the day before and treated him like a kid. He frowned and turned to Wesley, purposely ignoring the Commander for the moment, "It's something and I'd get to shoot at least some of the undead bastards."

He turned to the Commander at last and refused to back down or show fear at her gaze, instead meeting it defiantly, "I know. I'm not deaf and I don't have a faulty memory."

Wesley nodded. It did sound like a just reason to him, but they did have rules. Still...

"Why don't you let him go on a scouting job with me? I'll take good care of him. And if he gets hurt you can always punish me. I don't mind being responsible for him."
