Amador: Northern Countryside

The Northern part of Amador is said to be the most prosperous in the nation and many of the richer Nobles have estates out in the countryside. The landscape is quite hilly with scattered forests, but it levels out to the north-west. Though prosperous, the northern regions see their fair share of violence. The Arcane Wasteland is not far away and Den’char is even closer. Raiding parties are few, but thievery gangs are all too common.
Though the Northern Countryside holds many ruins, more than anywhere else in Amador, they are most often by far drab things worn down by age and weather. Most of them are but windblown rocks or the scattered foundations of buildings. Still, scholars speculate that there could be unfound treasures waiting for someone to find it.

Places of Notice:
-Galdwyn’s Tower: The High-Wizard Eldred Galdwyn had this old tower restored and refurbished so he could have a refuge where he could study the Arcane mysteries in solitude. Galdwyn is a Purple High-Wizard and his passion is the exploration of Magica. Lights flashes from the tower at night and even the air around it smells like ozone. Galdwyn lives alongside his three apprentices, and might be inclined to accept guests at his door if they can hold an educated conversation (for the apprentices sure can’t).

-Watcher’s solitude: The countryside of northern Amador is rife with scattered and broken ruins, but the most famous is known as “Watcher’s solitude” and is a giant statue of an armed and armored warrior looking vigilantly towards the north and Ayleid. The gray stone is weatherworn and missing several chips and pieces, but the watcher is clearly Cainian (draconic) in appearance. Because of its more-or-less remote location, it is believed that the statue has an ulterior purpose other than just being a monument.

-Noble House Erberon’s estates: House Erberon has a strong presence within the political scene of Amador and is known for having several talented tacticians and soldiers within their family. Their lands in northern Amador comprises of a Giant mansion atop a slight rise in the land, a barracks and stables adjacent to the mansion, the forest to the east of the mansion, the lake to the north and much of the landscape surrounding the hill.

-Heldherd Village: One of several villages in northern Amador, Heldherd lies just east of the road leading to Endir. For the most part it is a settlement of a dozen buildings, but there are several smaller farms out in the countryside that are also counted as part of the village. The citizens of Heldherd are mostly cattle and smalltime vegetable farmers, though the village has a blacksmith, thatcher and other such practical jobs. It is also to note that the village has a significant Shortbeard population and a brewery run by them.
